Valve will not sell Rape Day on Steam, a game about rape and murder

The rape and murder game in a zombie apocalypse will not be released on Steam. Valve could have published it but they would not offset the costs and risks of doing so.

In recent days the gaming community has made the presence of the game Rape Day on Steam. The game page said that it was a game in which the player had to rape and kill women in a zombie apocalypse. Such a premise has raised reactions of almost absolute rejection.

There will be no Rape Day on Steam due to the risks it would pose for Valve

The gaming community responded almost unanimously with requests to report the game for its distasteful content and questionable legality. Here we called for Rape Day to be reported as a game that shouldn't be in a Steam-sized store even though it's listed as an adult game.

Valve has announced in a recent blog post that they are not letting Rape Day be sold on Steam. The game entered through Steam Direct and after scrutiny they saw that it is not worth it to let it be sold on the platform. They said that selling the game has costs and risks that they could not calculate and that is why they are not going to sell it.

They commented that they respect the creators' desire to express themselves. Steam is one way to do it but Rape Day has content that makes it impossible. Rape Day is not going to come to Steam but that does not mean that other small stores or websites allow the sale of the game or its free distribution. At least we know it won't be in the world's largest digital games store. It remains to be seen if GoG, Epic, Itch.io and more will accept it in their catalog. But we doubt that after the scandal it has mounted they will agree to give it a space.
