Tencent announces that WeGame is expanding and opening to everyone, thus ceasing to be an exclusive platform for the Asian market and wants to stand up to Steam.

Currently the largest video game sales platform is Steam, which has expanded its list of products and services, also already distributes software from different developers and has AMD graphics drivers available to users. Valve's titanic platform has no answer, although there are rivals, such as Ubisoft's Uplay or EA's Origin, but that do not come anywhere near the height of Valve's solution. Tencent wants to overshadow Valve and has developed an online video game platform that originates from the Chinese market.

Until now this platform was only in China, because it is a large market and entering that market is a bit problematic, but it wants to expand its operations and operate on a global scale. Tencent wants everyone to be able to operate under this video game platform and access the entire catalog. It is an interesting attempt and it has to be born in the Chinese market, so it has a solid base, now, we do not know if this new platform will really be able to dethrone Valve's solution.

WeGame, as this platform is called, already boasts nearly two hundred million players, according to Daniel Ahmad , a video game analyst at Niko Partners. It's worth noting that Steam has 125 million users. This global expansion should allow the company to grow significantly and rapidly. However, it's important to point out that Steam doesn't operate in China, having been blocked there several years ago. Nevertheless, as we know, there are always backdoors to connect to and access the platform.

It should be noted that Tencent is the owner of the Riot Games platform, so it has some trail done. The problem is that we do not know what catalog this platform will have or if the prices will be cheaper than Steam.
