YouTube Premium allows you to download video in FullHD resolution to watch later

Now the YouTube Premium version adds the ability to download video to watch offline in FullHD resolution.

A while ago, YouTube launched a Premium version of the platform, which, frankly, is worthless. The platform is free and not worth paying for at all. What's more, the platform is paying content creators less and less, so many are packing up and leaving. Many have migrated to Twitch, a platform that pays significantly more.

Paying €11.99 for YouTube Premium offered absolutely no benefit. Now, Google will allow us to download any video and watch it offline in FullHD resolution (1920x1080 pixels). Until now, downloads were limited to a maximum resolution of 1280x720 pixels. This was hardly interesting, and things haven't improved much.

YouTube allows you to download videos to watch offline in FullHD quality

The platform already allows iPhone users to download video in FullHD to watch later. Users with an Android smartphone will have to wait a while. A really uninteresting novelty that does not invite you to pay 12 euros a month for content that you can see for free.

Another element that YouTube Premium offers is the possibility of not seeing ads. Additionally, it gives us access to YouTube Originals, content that is rarely dubbed into Spanish. It also offers YouTube Music Premium, a platform that wants to compete with Spotify. The only interesting thing about the paid version is that we can play a video in the background or with the terminal locked. Really paying for the latter, existing alternative solutions without cost, does not make much sense.

Google really wants to compete with Netflix, Spotify, and anyone who tries to overshadow it, but badly. The truth is that paying 12 euros for such minimal and superficial improvements is not worth it. There is a lack of content that justifies paying, especially considering that YouTube content is free.
