E3 filters the private data of more than 2 professionals

Thousands of journalists and investors who went to E3 past had their contact and personal details exposed to the public. The fine could cost you millions of euros.

The E3 news was supposed to be over now that it's over and we're looking at the Gamescon and its possible announcements. But recently news has come out that affects thousands of professionals related to the sector and not for the better.

Thousands of personal data of professionals could be downloaded from the E3 website

For several days a link has been available on the website of the largest video game event in the world to download all the personal data of the attendees who had to prove that they were members of the industry. That includes journalists and private investors who go to E3 to see what entertainment products they are interested in having stakes in.

Simply by clicking on a link you could get information such as the name, the telephone number, the social networks, the medium for which it is written, the address ... A huge security and privacy gap for people who have had to go for work reasons to E3. Some effects have been noticed and certain journalists have received threats in their personal emails and phones.

This will surely affect ESA, the organization that makes the fair possible. First of all, for next year's fair they will have many problems when it comes to requesting accreditation or a press pass from those who want to attend, who will have to rely on the new security of the servers. They could also be fined by the European Union because from a European computer you could access that list that was made public by accident. The fine could amount to 20 million euros.
