AMD: Five Variants of Navi 14 GPU Found Inside Linux Kernel
Found five iterations of the AMD Navi 14 silicon within the Linux kernel and the most curious thing is that they are accompanied by the frequencies.
A few hours ago we commented that in the Linux kernel references to Navi 22 and Navi 23 had been found. These references appear to be from high-end graphics GPUs from AMD. While this is being confirmed or not by the company, references to five Navi variants have been found. Specifically, at least five different versions of the Navi 14 silicon have been found.
RDNA is AMD's big bet to regain ground in the graphics card market. This architecture will be long-term and shows good manners. Efficiency has been improved over GCN and focuses solely on gaming. Perhaps the next GPU variants under this architecture will include dedicated hardware for Ray Tracing.
References to five versions of AMD Navi 14 appear
Interestingly, this reference has also been found within the Linux kernel. Specifically, the references Navi 14 XT, XTM, XL, XLM and XTX have been found. Apparently the Navi 14 XT is for the RX 5500 and the Navi 14 XTM would be the reference of the RX 5500M for laptops.
Navi 14 XL could be a reference to the RX 5500 XT that Gigabyte has recently listed. Navi 14 XLM would be the portable version of the RX 5500 XT. Finally, Navi 14 XTX could be a reference of the RX 5300 for the entry range.
Perhaps the most curious part is that inside references to the frequencies of each silicon have been found. This is not usually the most common, so everything suggests that AMD has them almost ready.
AMD withdrew all dedicated Vega a few months ago, except those intended for APUs. The Vega graphics have been a disaster in terms of price, consumption, temperatures and performance. Vega's replacement has been the RX 5700 Series. Now these silicones would come to replace the RX 500 Series. A few days ago we already told you that AMD had lowered the price of several iterations of RX 590 to clean stock.
