Thermal camera shows how heat is distributed on the NVIDIA RTX 3080 Founders Edition
Many users are showing their doubts regarding the temperatures of the NVIDIA RTX 3000. The new heatsink is leaving doubts to many users who think that it will not be as good as indicated. Well, we get a thermographic image of how the heat is distributed in the NVIDIA RTX 3080 Founders Edition. The image is quite illuminating, seeing the hottest spots.
As you can see, the hottest spot is in the center of the graphics card, where there is no additional fan. The front and rear areas seem to move at a lower temperature. This is quite good data, since this has possibly been achieved through a benchmark of intensive use of the graphics GPU.

The video shows the RTX 3080 at idle, where it shows a temperature of plus or minus 35ºC, which is not bad. After 8 minutes of stress test, the graphics card in the central area has gone to 65ºC. We see that in both cases the temperature sample has been obtained at the exact same point.
Right in the central point, a piece that is painted black and without a fan, the graph is where it takes the highest temperature. The PCB also appears to be showing a bit red, indicating high temperature.
But unfortunately few conclusions can be drawn from these measurements. The temperature of the GPU, VRMs, or memory chips is missing. We also do not know which box was being used or what the ambient temperature was at that time. Another piece of information that we do not know is what stress test was being carried out on this RTX 3080.
Notably, the fan closest to the video outputs blows its air directly onto the GPU. The central area is the most unprotected as it lacks a fan and is a passage area to reach the second cooling point.
