Review: Sharkoon DG7000-G chassis

We looked at the Sharkoon DG7000-G chassis, an ATX form factor chassis, combining high-end features such as entry-level and full tempered glass side.

Having a good chassis is essential, since it is not only an element to arrange our hardware, it is an element that will be responsible for providing a good air flow to keep our hardware cool and an element that we will see at all hours, that is why it is important to choose it well. Sharkoon has been making computer chassis for a long time and today they have sent us the Sharkoon DG7000-G, a peculiar chassis that includes elements of the entry-level and high-end range, combined in one chassis.

We are not very fixated on aesthetics, but it is true that this chassis is aesthetically or constructively peculiar. On the one hand, we have a more typical base design for cheap chassis that we can find for € 20-30 on the market, but to which a tempered glass window is added, thus increasing its price. As we say, this chassis has some high-end chassis appearance, but with an aesthetic that is very reminiscent of the entry-level range, something that has certainly left us quite perplexed. Not only does it have a tempered glass window, it has a magnetic dust filter in the upper area, something that is more present in high-end chassis.

The chassis has been built with robust materials (apparently aluminum, although it is not specified by the manufacturer), to meet the needs of gaming fans. A tempered glass side has been arranged on this Sharkoon DG7000-G that allows you to see the installed components. To facilitate the concealment of the cables, between the back plate and the other side there is space to perfectly hide the cables so that they are not seen and do not negatively affect the air flow that can be generated with this chassis.

The Sharkoon DG7000-G is an ATX form factor tower that supports ATX, micro-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards. The chassis has dimensions of 47cm high, 47cm long and 21cm wide, with a total weight of 7.2Kg. Internally, this chassis supports graphics cards of a maximum of 38cm, a cooler height of 17.5cm and a power supply length of 23cm. These maximum dimensions are usually more than enough for most of the entry-level and mid-range components that we can find on the market.

Internally, this chassis has capacity for a 5.25 "unit, it can house a 5.25" unit which is convertible to 3.5 ". This chassis also has the capacity for a 3.5 ”unit, two 3.5” units convertible to 2.5 ”units and finally it has space for two 2.5” units. The area of the power supply is coated to hide the cables and prevent the heat from the power supply from being distributed through the chassis and is expelled directly to the outside.

For cooling, this chassis has support for two 140mm fans on the front, with two fans installed with LEDs, which will be red, green or blue depending on the model and that we can remove to install an RL of maximum 240mm. The rear panel supports a 140mm fan and it is installed and as we have highlighted, it will have LEDs of the color of the selected chassis. Finally, the upper area admits two 120mm or 140mm fans, depending on what we choose and none will come installed, we can install an RL if we want. This upper area has a filter against magnetic dust. The color of the fans will match the back plate, which will be blue, green or red.

Something very interesting and that is good is the connectivity, since this chassis has two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, something that is very good, since having at least two USB 3.0 ports and four USB ports is, to our understanding of the minimum that a good chassis should offer today. Regarding the sound, it has the microphone input and the typical HD sound output with jack connectors.

In conclusion, saying that this chassis has entry-level things and high-end things, which makes this Sharkoon DG7000-G a peculiar tower. The tempered glass window, the separation of the power supply and the space to hide cables are more typical elements of mid-range and high-end chassis, while the single-color fans are left by the way, in this case, since they are only one color. The front has a bold and aggressive look, which many users may like, all told. Overall, this Sharkoon DG7000-G causes a mixed bag of sensations.

  1. Well... in case anyone comes here looking for a review, know the following, it has 2 5,25″ slots, 3 3,5″ slots hidden in the power supply channel and space for 2 2,5″ drives accessible from the right side. Obviously, the case is made of STEEL, the build quality is very good and robust, both the steel part and the ABS front, the front is aggressive, but it does not mean that it is “low-end” … it simply has its market. In short, it is a mid/high-end case aimed at gamers, or people who do not dislike its transformers-style front (once illuminated).
For 70 / 75E. it is an option to consider.
