Coolmod CoolPC Ramboot Club III - Review

Gaming has gone from being something that belonged to a few, from geeks, to something general. Many users enjoy gaming, either regularly or casually. Most users go for 1080p gaming, which is usually the standard resolution in competitive. For users looking to play 1080p with a good FPS rate, Coolmod has developed the CoolPC Ramboot Club III, a gaming device that offers us brutal gaming performance.
Thanks to Coolmod for giving us this gaming computer for analysis.

CoolPC Ramboot Club III processor and motherboard

There are two very prominent points in this team: the processor and the graphics card. To begin with, we are going to talk about the processor and the motherboard and we will talk about the graphics later.
The motherboard of this system is the ASUS TUF B450-PLUS Gaming, a motherboard with very good characteristics. This motherboard is characterized by incorporating military-grade components, which guarantees good signal quality and very good stability. Perhaps its biggest flaw is that it only has 6 VRM phases, enough to support the processor that integrates this equipment but that is very fair if we want to overclock.

Regarding connectivity, the motherboard supports the PCIe 3.0 interface, so we will not get all the juice out of the graphics card. Of course, it offers two USB 3.1 Gen1 Type A ports in marine water color, two USB 3.1 Gen2 Type A in blue color and two USB 2.0 ports in black color. Additionally it has a USB 3.1 Gen1 Type C and a standard RJ45 connector for the internet. Regarding the audio output, it offers a simple stereo output.

This motherboard mounts an 7-core, 3800-thread AMD Ryzen 8 16X processor, the limit that this motherboard supports. This processor works at a frequency of 3.9GHz and arrives in Boost mode at 4.5GHz, in addition to having 32MB of L3 cache. The processor has a TDP of 105W, which may seem high, but it is not so high and the motherboard can handle it without problems. We must remember that the Ryzen 300 are based on the Zen2 architecture and 7nm lithography, so they are much more efficient than their predecessors.
CoolPC Ramboot Club III cooling

For this CoolPC Ramboot Club III by Coolmod they have opted for the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Red LED heatsink. This heatsink is one of the best valued on the market within the upper-middle range.
This heatsink is characterized by being 84x120x160mm with a 120x120x25mm fan. The heatsink block has 4 6mm heatpipes that go through all the aluminum fins. On the other hand, the fan is of the PWM type and can operate between 600RPM and 1600RPM.
This heatsink for its good quality / price ratio is usually chosen by users who are looking for a high performance solution with an adjusted price. For the Ryzen 7 3800X this heatsink is more than enough and we will not have any temperature problems.
Storage and RAM CoolPC Ramboot Club III

We are now going to see two other important points, such as storage and especially RAM. It should be noted before starting that the Ryzen 3000X are still dependent on the frequency of the RAM, but not as much as in previous generations, even so, high frequencies of RAM offer a little extra performance.
Regarding the RAM memory, for this equipment Corsair Vengeance LPX memories have been chosen. Specifically, two modules of 8GB each have been installed for a total of 16GB. These RAM memory modules work at a frequency of 3200MHz, which is ideal for the Ryzen 7 3800X processor.

As a storage unit, the Kingston SA400S37 960GB SSD unit has been chosen. This 960GB storage unit is very good in terms of capacity, but being SATA we see the performance a bit weighted. More and more users are opting for M.2 NVMe drives for their gaming equipment as the primary drive. It is true that M.2 drives are usually more expensive than SATA and normally have thermaltrottling problems, which throttle the performance of these drives when the temperature of these increases.
CoolPC Ramboot Club III Box and PSU

When we have a gaming team like this we want the inside to be visible from the outside. For this reason, from Coolmod for this CoolPC equipment they have opted for a Cooler Master MasterBox TD500L tower with side window. In this case, the case does not offer a tempered glass side, it is plastic, something that considerably lightens the overall weight of the chassis.

The front has three 120mm fans with red LED lighting. Note that there is enough separation between the fans and the front panel; and the upper and lower air intakes are more than enough to get a good air intake from the outside. In general terms, the box is perfect for this system, since it isolates the power supply from the rest of the hardware and the space for cable management.

Both the graphics card and the processor have a fairly tight consumption and do not require excessively powerful power supplies. Coolmod has chosen to install a Cougar VTE 600W with 80Plus Bronze certification. This guarantees us that the source will have an efficiency of approximately 87% at a 50% load, which is fine. Perhaps the downside is that it lacks 0dB technology, but it should be noted that the fan is PWM.
CoolPC Ramboot Club III graphics card

The power in this gaming equipment is provided by the ASUS TUF Gaming X3 RX 5600 XT EVO graphics card. This graphics card offers us a better heatsink than the stock from AMD and higher frequencies. The stock AMD solution works at a gaming frequency of 1.375MHz and reaches 1.560MHz in Boost mode.
This graphics card has two modes of operation. The OC mode establishes a gaming frequency of 1.660MHz and can reach 1.770MHz in Boost mode. Under gaming mode, the gaming frequency becomes 1.615MHz and in Boost mode it reaches 1.750MHz. This graphic has 6GB GDDR6 @ 14Gbps with a 192bits memory interface.

While this graphics card supports PCIe 4.0, the motherboard does not support this technology. This is not excessively relevant either, as this type of interface on graphics cards does not contribute excessively.
We have to take into account that the heatsink of the ASUS TUF Gaming X3 RX 5600 XT EVO occupies 2.5 PCI slots. In addition, we can see that it has a simple RGB lighting that is beautiful. Also indicate from this graph that it has three fans to help dissipate the heat generated by the GPU.

As we can see, the ASUS TUF Gaming X3 RX 5600 XT EVO has several video outputs. Specifically, it offers us an HDMI 2.0b output and three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs. Additionally we see that it has a large opening that allows air to escape from this point.
Benchmark
We must bear in mind that the RX 5600 XT is a more well-thought-out graphics for mid-range gaming. This means that this graphic is especially designed to offer very good performance under 1080p resolutions. Even so, with this ASUS TUF version we can see that there is power for something else, it can also offer us 1440p support.
As we see in the benchmarks, it offers a pretty decent performance under the 1440p resolution. Perhaps by optimizing the graphic quality under this resolution we can obtain a slightly higher FPS rate.

Conclusion
Those who are looking for a well-balanced gaming PC, Coolmod's CoolPC Ramboot Club III is a highly recommended option. We are facing a gaming team with a processor for many years and a graphics card that offers much better performance than could be expected. In addition, it comes with a Corsair 960GB and 16GB DDR4 Kingston SSD in Dual Channel configuration, which offers an important performance boost.
The combination of the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X and the ASUS TUF RX 5600 XT graphics is unbeatable. It is known that by frequency Intel processors are a little better than AMD processors. The AMD graphics card offers us a very good performance especially in 1080p gaming. Also, we will not pay the extra for Ray Tracing, whose game catalog is still extremely limited.
Some of the characteristics of this setup may not match because Coolmod could have updated this equipment

- It uses a 960GB Kingston SSD of the SATA type, perhaps an M.2 NVMe would have been better, although it is true that these are more expensive and do not compensate in terms of performance improvement in many cases.
