NiceHash CEO Marko Kobal Leaves Company Over Bitcoin Theft

Marko Kobal, the CEO of NiceHash, has resigned, due to the cyber attack that caused the theft of 4.700 Bitcoin, valued at more than 63 million dollars and has also sold the company, to return the stolen cryptocurrencies.

The cryptocurrency market was startled to see that $ 63 million worth of Bitcoin (4.700 Bitcoin) had been stolen from NiceHash, the mining company. The incident, which happened at the beginning of December 2017, has ended up causing the dismissal of the CEO of the company, Marko Kobal, who is also a co-founder of the NiceHash company. This fact occurred last week, but it was not until today that it was known, after he updated his LinkedIn page. The site will be occupied by Zdravko Poljasevic.

Surely Poljasevic does not sound like anything to you and that is because he does not have any previous relationship with the company, but according to the Delo media, he appears in public records as a real estate broker and importer and also appears as a used vehicle seller .

Mark Kobal has stated that: 'As you have noticed, since the most recent security breach, we at NiceHash have been working around the clock to rebuild our internal systems as well as the management structure. I will now step away from my position and allow new management to lead the organization during its next period of growth. Therefore, I have decided to resign as CEO of NiceHash. '

After the incident, Kobal and Skorjanc, recently appointed chief technology officer, posted a video on Facebook, where they explained what happened in the theft of the funds. They also explained that part of Kobal's funds would be sold to an external investor, in order to reimburse everything that had been stolen from users. The Delo medium also says that Kobal will sell 45% of its shares in the company, of which 35% are equivalent to about € 175.000, which will be bought by Fleming Digital and the rest will be compared by Martin Skorjanc, Matjaz's father, but through from the H-Bit company.

The company was founded in 2014 and is established in Slovenia. The company offers cryptocurrency mining services by renting computing power or buying processing power from other users using NiceHash. The problem arises from using only one wallet for the company's and users' Bitcoin funds and on December 6, 4.700 Bitcoins were stolen through a computer attack.
