Ryzen 9 3950X outperforms Core i9-9980XE processor in Cinebench R20

New benchmark of the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X under Cinebench R20 returns practically the same score as the Core i9-9980XE for half the price

Initially the Ryzen 9 3950X processor should be on the market, but AMD announced in late September that it was delaying it. The reason why it is not yet on the market is not clear. On the one hand, TSMC may not be able to meet AMD's demand. It has also been speculated that the company is failing to get the processor to hit the specified frequency.

This AMD processor has been seen in a new benchmark under the synthetic Cinebench R20 software. This quite popular tool shows us that this processor outperforms the Intel Core i9-9980XE. It should be noted that this Intel processor is worth almost triple what the AMD processor will apparently cost

Ryzen 9 3950X equals Intel Core i9-9980XE

The Ryzen 9 3950X processor features 16 cores and 32 threads of Zen2 @ 7nm architecture. This processor works at a base frequency of 3.5GHz and in Boost mode it reaches 4.7GHz. It has 72MB of L3 cache and has a TDP of 105W. It is not yet on the market and its price, according to AMD, will be $ 750.

For its part, the Intel Core i9-9980XE processor has 18 cores and 36 14nm + lithography threads. This processor has a base frequency of 3.3GHz and arrives in Boost mode at 4.4GHz, with a TDP of 165W. This processor is priced between 2 - 000 euros.

Under Cinebench R20 the Ryzen 9 3950X has scored 8 points, while the Core i789-9XE has scored 9980 points. The difference between the two processors is negligible. It is interesting to see how the AMD processor having fewer cores equals the Intel processor. Ryzen processors typically require more cores to match or exceed an Intel processor.
