Apple Watch: External companies can listen to the recordings

Conversations from an Apple Watch, some with highly private content, are sent to third-party companies. These are responsible for rating the quality of Siri responses and contain very sensitive information.

With the Apple Watch being one of the best-selling mobile accessories, it was to be expected that the problems they had would be much more noticeable. But if we are talking about a device that is constantly registering our voice, there we already run into problems. It is normal for these virtual assistants to send recordings to analyze the effectiveness, it is part of the way in which every system is improved, but with Apple there is a problem.

Amazon and Google send recordings to external companies that are responsible for measuring the quality of the responses from Alexa and Assistant, and these companies allow you to configure so that certain content is not sent. However with Siri in Apple Wacth it is impossible to do so since they do not give us this option.

Private conversations pass to third companies without being able to avoid it

What Apple does, according to them, is to send evaluation companies a few seconds of the conversation to determine if Siri has been activated well and then if the answer has been the most appropriate. According to a leaker, this is not entirely true and they are constantly receiving audios with private information on topics such as health or even sexual encounters of users and the illegal drug trade.

They say they are there to confirm whether a “Hey, Siri” activates properly, but they confirm that even the sound of a zipper can activate the assistant, and that it activates whenever you raise your hand, so they have managed to hear how doctors spoke to patients about the most intimate data of their health. The leaker claims that in many cases they can identify people by saying names and streets, although Apple claims that only 1% of requests to Siri for an Apple Watch are qualified, but that is still a lot of recordings.
